3D Ornament...Beware long post...

Remember the project that gave me a pain in the palms and hanging from my Chandelier? This is it. Click on the images for a larger view...

or see the video here. (Video using my digital camera, since the video recorder output is in AVCHD and still working on converting it)

My SU cs order arrived and has not been put away and me being the "bold bright" kind of girl, I pulled out sheets from there and one from In Color "Soft sky".

I was actually going to make 7 different ornaments all sides with the same color and then I made one with all the colors, so I can save for a future sample, really liked the way it turned out. So all 7 of them are made the same way now.

These are on their way to be swapped. Not sure I want to swap them now :-), but the ladies I swap with are uber talented and I am sure I will not be disappointed.

These can be folded flat while shipping or storing and when needed to be hung, just need a little fluffing.

How to if you are interested:

  • .Score a 4x4 piece diagonally, stamp your favorite image before or after depending on your image. I stamped after, using my Decorative Dainties, and versamark, since I wanted symmetry on both sides. Embossed them with the embossing powders listed below my signature.
  • .Use a 12x12 sheet, since there won't be any waste. You will get 9 4x4s. You can add as many squares as you like to one ornament. 5 or more are preferable to give them some body.
  • .Punch all corners with your desired punch. Here I used Fiskars ivy blossom combo punch. (6x4 = 24. Even after doing half with each hand, your palms will be sore, especially when you are making 7 of these)
  • .Fold all of them at the score, and attach them to each other with well tested strong hold glue. I used Liquid Glass here, since it will give me some time to slide and adjust, but has a strong hold in no time. Now you should have 6 folded triangles sitting on top of each other.
  • .Attach a bead to anything you can get into a bead. I attached a substantial sized bead to the Sassy Strands and glued it to the spine of these triangles. Make sure you leave enough strand to tie or hang on the top.
  • .Take the two loose ends of top and bottom triangles and attach them to each other.
  • .Fluff a little to give all the layers the same width and voila, you have a hanging 3D ornament.
Hope you like it and will try it out. It is a great way to use up some of those scraps.

Thanks for stopping by today. TTFN.

Here are the combinations of card stock and embossing powders used...
Yoyo Yellow with Red, White Daisy with Enchanted Gold and coloring on the flower, Real Red with Blue Tinsel, Soft Sky with peacock, Only Orange with Gold, Brilliant Blue with silver.
