First of all, thanks to everyone who stopped by and told me how to get out of my blues. They are really appreciated. They also made me realize, how wonderful all my blogging friends are and that if I don't make cards and blog about them, I will loose them all. LOL! So there is my inspiration to make cards.
Did you see fresh-cut note cards with a die cut flower in the middle, just released by SU? Well I wanted to create one of my own.
I also found this pillow on Please Sir blog and wanted to recreate it with paper. Duh..cloth vs paper, should have known.
So started with drawing two concentric circles, made slits in the paper from one to the other at equal intervals and tried to fold the paper. It did not budge. So I went ahead and cut out flower petals with my craft knife and then pinched them together. I added a die cut flower in the center and a punched butterfly and mounted it on matching CS.
The texture on the white is created using a crayon and open cuttlebug embossing folder. The folks at GPP Street Team showed us this technique. The impression of the birds and swirls is not as clear as I expected, but I still liked it. I also stamped the little stamp image from the post marked set. Here is the end product. And here is a closeup of the little stamp. This was a little afterthought. Otherwise, I would have swapped the butterfly and the stamp image.
And here is a simple one for you, that I made using photoshop. Cutout the black parts and you will have something similar to what I have up there. Click on the image then right mouse click to do "Save Image As" to save to your computer. You can print it on your paper of choice to cut out the dark regions. Print it on transparency, cut out the black parts and it will make a stencil. If you use it in any way, leave me a comment, so I can see your creativity.
Happy creating!
And here is a little funny. Found a graphic in a local news paper and created it using die cuts and a post it cut free hand for hair.
Thanks for stopping by. TTFN.

Well there you go... Just needed a day off and then come back with a fresh head!!
Great card too.!!
Annapurna - thanks for showing your rubbing background to the team. I'm cracking up that you said "the folks at GPP Street Team"...it's just me, and those who come to play. Glad to have you join us.
Glad you are back--love the Dad card!
I have a question for you. I was at Costco today and saw a Crop-A-Dile, and am not quite sure what it can do. I don't work with paper, although my teens do, so I thought they might like it. So here's my question: It looks to me like it can be used with fabric, and even leather. I sew and knit purses. Do you (or anyone else) have any experience with this thing? Is it worth it? Does anyone know if it is easy to get refills?
Great innovative idea Anna...see you just need to recharge!
beautiful cards. I love that postage stamp.
That looks great Anna, really effective! I might just have a go at this technique. Love the little butterfly too :)

Wowsa, your hard work was defintiely worth it. Your card is amazing.
Hello Anapurna,
the flower looks very tactile and that's something I love in a lot of works.
Your rubbed underground matches it perfectly even if it didn't come out completely as you expected. I think that's one of the challenges: even if you make a mistake or it doesn't came out as you wanted it, you just do something with it so it does come out great in another way !
greetings

Dear Anna,
Thanks so much for the great info and the video suggestions in reference to my question about the crop-a-dile. After looking at the videos, I understood what this tool does. Appreciate it!
The rubbed wax background works nicely with the cutwork background you have chosen. The addition of the stamp and butterfly are a very nice touch!
best-
