Happy Mother's Day...

to all of you. Here is what I made for mother's day gift/cards that fits the Stamp Something challenge to make a first something. I made 10 of these and now I can do the folds in my sleep. Julie Koerber showed us how to make these a while ago and I have been meaning to make one for a while. Mother's day seemed like a good opportunity. So I followed her instructions and made this. You can see her card here.

To the deets... the flower is stamped in versamark, then applied perfect pearls, sealed and cut using scallop circle nestabilities. The bigger green circle is also cut using nestabilities. The pearl in the middle is from M's is called "bangle bling". I had other pearl accents, but these fit perfectly in the middle. The four corners are stamped using a piece of a stamp from "birds galore" by Inkadinkado. My patterned paper covers the whole box, so you cannot see what the bottom is made of unless you turn it over or open it.

The inside has a seed packet which has yet another circle glued to it, that reads "Mothers hold their children's hands for a little while, but their hearts forever" (probably true of both parents) and the vertical strip says "Happy Mother's Day", all printed using Word. I put the sentiment on the seed packet and nothing on the outside, so the box card can be reused for any purpose. Hopefully all the recipients will remember to reuse them and not throw them away.

TIP: One thing I would suggest is to not use card stock for the base piece, since it is harder to fold and gets bulky with all the folds. Instead use thin patterned paper or just a white printer paper like I did in this case.

Also seal your perfect pearls and let dry completely before putting it through the cuttle bug. The first one, I didn't and now my C plate has a gold flower on it.

My card for MOJO Monday 36...

This card is made for Julee's MOJO Monday 36 contest. The DP that I had that matched the colors was too busy. So I went on to make my own. The DP on the right is made by using a flower from an inkadinkado set stamped in matching colors and drawing lines between free hand. Added a few sparklers here and there all over the card, but that is about it. I cut out the flowers from DP and placed them on top of the roses on the stamp, since they seemed to work better.
Here is a closeup or you can click on the image to see the deets.
Thanks for stopping by. TTFN.

Stamps: Verve visual-Polka Stars, Gina K-Spring blooms (Rose replaced with cutouts from DP), Inkadinkado-Garden Words(Little flower).
Paper: CTMH, Paper Company, Cloud 9 design-Polka dots.
Ribbon: Michaels.
Accessories: Cuttlebug, circle nestabilities, Martha Stewart butterfly stamp.

Girl of India...

When Allison wanted us to use one of her Girls of the World on our creations this week for AFSS16 challenge, my obvious pick was to use an Indian Girl (Girl from India). But there were three on there that could go for Indian girls (this and two more on the bottom right, remember Jungle Book..), but I picked the one with the sari, since it had more coloring potential. We Indian girls love our colorful dresses and our jewelry (Click on the image to see her jewelery). So I had to give her all that. The flower on the top is an unused piece from a project I did a couple of weeks back. The dp used is recycled from wrapping tissue and a kleenex box. If only you can see the stash of DP I have, you wonder why I use trash. But nothing in my stash seems as good as my trash :-))

This also fits the Arty Girlz 3D Creations, so I will submit there and feel accomplished by completing two challenges. If you are wondering what it is that I made, it is a gift card holder. Dimensions 4.5x4.5 inches roughly.

Well the girl looks too European... just for fun, I went into photoshop and picked up the color from one of my pictures and added it to her skin. Here is the outcome. Now that looks more natural.

Hope you like. Thanks for stopping by. TTFN.

Stamp and Golf with Emily Bella, Gina K. and Nichole...

If the three ladies decide to cruise together, why can't I put their products together to make a golfer birthday card, right? So here is the offspring of their products and my hyperactive brain.

I wanted to make a bouquet of golf clubs, since I saw an ad on a bill board. I can't remember where nor can I remember who the ad is for. That and my recent purchase of golfafella gave me an idea.

I stamped the golfafella and the golf club bouquet on some white metallic cover CS. After coloring all the images and clear embossing the shoes and the vase and the golf ball and the rest that are supposed to be on the green, I took my almost dry, green colorbox strip and went over the bottom part. Did the same with blue ink on the top, not to cover the whole, but to give a sky effect. My fella has a 5:00 O'clock shadow and is having a bad hair day, thanks to my coloring techniques :-)

Well the card I started making was for CPS sketch # 62. If you look at the sketch there was a strip dividing a 3rd of the card. So I cut out some white space between the fella and his vase and stuck them together to gain some space. I then took a piece of father knows best pp and cut a strip out and used it as ribbon. All the pieces were then mounted on Copper metallic CS and that onto PTI's aqua mist CS. I then stamped and embossed the sentiment from Impression Obsession and there you have it.

One last thing... I would have been the happy with my bouquet if one of the golf clubs was pointing the other way. I tried stamping onto acetate and putting that on the CS, but it didn't look good. Until I find a golf club stamp that points in the opposite direction, all the clubs will all be facing the same direction ;-)

I wish I stamped the vase a little smaller too. May be next time.

Creative criticism and suggestions for improvement are always welcome. Thanks for stopping by. TTFN.

Stamps: Gina K. Designs, Stamping Bella and Impression obsession
Paper: Paper Company and Paper Trey Inc.
Inks: Color box and Adirondak pitch black.
Accessories: Markers and gel pens.

One card in its many forms...

I started off trying to color a stamp using my color pencils and made this field of flowers. I liked how it turned out and wanted to use it on a card.

If you want to know how to do it, here it is. Moisten your water color pencils and paint over the stamp. By the time you are done with it, some of it dries out. So you can let it all dry and spritz water over the image and stamp. Sometimes you can get two stampings out of one coloring by spritzing more water, like you see in the picture.

I wanted to make a card for Allison's background stamps using Nicola's sketch... Well here are all the forms it took. Even though I am not happy with it after 3 days, I decided to share and move on.

First one... I don't have any background stamps (I think), so I started out making my own background. I put the dry wall tape on the paper and then colored with lyra crayons. Removed the tape and I was left with this background. This matches the My paper world sketch#9 (turn the sketch left) and Allison's background stamps, but I wasn't happy with it.

Second one... Took the layers apart (using floss) and used a different layout. The butterfly did not fit, so it had to stay out. Wanted to make flowers to fill the gap on the top. This still fits with Allison's backgrounds.

Third and final one... All that background paper I created did not go well on the card, so it got left out and the actual tape used to make the background came into the foreground. The flowers went on. This goes with My Paper World sketch #8. Still not happy, but I need to move on.

Now that I literally made three cards, I have to enter it into at least 3 challenges. But I think I have more than three.
1. My paper world, sketch#9
2. AFSS15, background stamps
3. Arty Girlz, Open Theme
4. Cute Card Thursday, In the garden

Feel free to tell me which one you liked the best. Thanks for looking. TTFN

Stamps: Rubber Stamped - Big flower, SU - Little flowers.
Colors: Water color pencils, lyra water color crayons.
Paper: Paper Company and scraps.

Thank you card give away...

As you can see in the post below, I had a thank you card for a soldier in mind, when I started making it. I personally do not know any. So how about you leave a comment here and tell me why your soldier is the one that should get this card and I will mail it to you, so you can send it to him/her? If there is more than one requests, then I will have to pull names out of a hat or who knows may be I will make more.

Update: Monica got the card...
